State Demolishes Five-Story Illegal Building in Jerusalem Neighborhood
The Land Enforcement Authority demolished an inhabited five-story illegal building in Jerusalem's A-Tur neighborhood as the state cracks down on planning violations.

The state has stepped up its efforts in recent months to crack down on illegal construction across the country, targeting both residential violations and unauthorized structures. Authorities recently published a list of 17 local municipalities that fail to inspect construction violations and reportedly break the law themselves by neglecting required surveys.
Crackdown on 17 Local Authorities
Among the municipalities failing to report building violations are Kfar Saba, Ramat HaSharon, Beit Shean, Dimona, Tayibe, Tira, and several regional councils. The state has decided to intervene with severe fines for authorities that ignore enforcement protocols and fail to submit findings to the government.
Demolition of a Five-Story Building in A-Tur
In a rare and significant escalation, the Jerusalem District of the Land Enforcement Authority executed a judicial demolition order against an inhabited five-story residential building in the A-Tur neighborhood of Jerusalem. The operation was carried out with the assistance of the Jerusalem District Police and Border Police.
"The Authority acts decisively and professionally to enforce planning and building laws," the Land Enforcement Authority stated. "We will continue to operate against illegal construction to preserve the rule of law and public interest."
The structure was built without a permit on land designated in the master plan for public buildings rather than residential use. Following exhausted legal proceedings and repeated warnings, the demolition was executed as part of the district's systematic enforcement plan.
