From Stardom to Struggle: Itay Turgeman's Journey
Itay Turgeman, known affectionately as Turgi, is one of Israel's most prominent entertainment figures. Breaking onto the scene in the late 1990s, he achieved historic milestones as the youngest-ever Ophir Award winner, alongside a Television Academy Award for his role in the acclaimed series "Hazarot". Today, he stars in Keshet 12's hit reality show "MKHV", where he has opened up about the darker chapters of his life.
In a candid interview, Turgeman discussed the crushing financial burden he once faced. "At age 33, I moved back in with my parents for three years and dealt with a million-shekel bank debt," he shared openly, recounting a time when he worked in a beverage warehouse for 350 shekels a day with no career offers.
Overcoming Addiction and Finding Faith
Beyond his financial struggles, Turgeman spoke candidly about his long battle with alcohol and drug addiction that shadowed his acting career. Over the past few years, the actor has undergone a profound spiritual awakening. Alongside his cultural endeavors, he now works as an emotional coach, guiding others toward healing through Jewish tradition. Turgeman is married to Talia Mazuz, and the couple recently welcomed their second child.
Recently, Turgeman also sparked considerable debate with his remarks on traditional gender roles within marriage. I take care of the livelihood; I feel responsible for that."
