Israel Approves 12 New Urban Renewal Complexes to Build 6,154 Homes
Israel has declared 12 new urban renewal complexes, replacing 1,867 old apartments with 6,154 modern units to boost housing supply and national fortification.

Israel's Government Authority for Urban Renewal has approved the official declaration of 12 new urban renewal and evacuation-construction complexes across the country. The initiative aims to address high housing costs by replacing 1,867 existing residential units with 6,154 modern apartments.
Director of the Authority Yuri Garmann noted that 7 of the designated complexes are advancing through the municipal track, while 5 are progressing via private developer initiatives. The official designation grants developers vital tax benefits stipulated by law and enables legal measures against tenants withholding consent under specific conditions.
Prominent projects include the Ben Gurion complex in southern Herzliya, spanning approximately 90 dunams near a future metro station, which will replace 371 old units with 1,339 new ones. In the Western Galilee, the Ben Gurion complex in Shlomi will demolish 174 aging apartments lacking standard fortification to construct 825 protected new units.
Tel Aviv-Yafo accounts for 6 of the newly declared complexes, adding 2,355 new units in place of 896 existing ones. Additional projects are slated for Holon, Jerusalem, Bat Yam, and Pardes Hanna-Karkur, reinforcing housing supply and bolstering national civil defense infrastructure.
