Israel David Elected New Chairman of the Association of Engineers
Engineer Israel David has been elected as the new chairman of the Association of Engineers for Construction and Infrastructure, succeeding Yigal Govrin. David brings over four decades of experience to lead upcoming industry challenges.
Israel David Elected as New Chairman of the Association of Engineers
Changes in leadership at the Association of Engineers for Construction and Infrastructure: Engineer Israel David has been elected as the new chairman of the association. David succeeds Yigal Govrin, who served as chairman on a voluntary basis for 8 years. Govrin will complete his tenure as chairman and continue to serve on the association's committee for another term.
David, who has served over the past 25 years as deputy chairman of the Association of Engineers and head of the construction division, was elected by association members in elections that also included voting for the association committee and heads of professional divisions. Israel David is a senior and renowned civil engineer with over four decades of experience in structural design. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees in civil engineering from the Technion, graduating with highest honors and president's distinction.
Challenges and Future Vision for the Construction Sector
In 1990, together with his wife, engineer Yael David, he founded the firm David Engineers, which he has managed ever since. Alongside his professional activity, David has been active for years in the public and professional arena. He is a member of the Engineering and Architecture Council, served as a board member and acting chairman of the Standards Institution of Israel, and serves as Israel's representative to the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH). In 2019, he won a lifetime achievement award from the council in recognition of his contribution to high-rise construction.
"The Association of Engineers plays a key role in leading issues at the core of the industry's activity," said Israel David. "I am stepping into the role with detailed plans based on the knowledge I have accumulated, my many years of experience, and my close familiarity with all areas of construction."
David noted that the association will face major challenges in the coming years, including regulatory changes, the adoption of international standards, the removal of barriers in the industry, the promotion of innovation, and the development of quality engineering human capital. He intends to work toward elevating the status of engineers, keeping the association at the forefront of professional knowledge, and advancing technological developments to improve labor productivity in the sector.
