Al-Zaidi emphasized that the reopening aims to strengthen border security while ensuring a smooth flow of trade and civilian movement. All crossings are expected to be fully operational by Thursday.
The crossings were initially closed following a drone attack launched by pro-Iranian militias in Iraq against Saudi Arabia during the holiday. The temporary shutdown was intended to prevent the perpetrators from escaping into Iran, though no major arrests have been reported prior to the reopening.
