Iran has proposed opening the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for the lifting of the US naval blockade on its ports, according to reports citing diplomatic sources. Tehran communicated the proposal through Pakistan, signaling its openness to renewing negotiations with Washington.

Iranian Ambassador to Pakistan Reza Amiri Moghaddam confirmed that the proposal was delivered during recent visits to Tehran by Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir. Moghaddam criticized US President Donald Trump for rejecting the initiative and insisting on maintaining the blockade, arguing that the American stance undermines diplomatic efforts and prolongs the crisis.

Pakistan and Qatar previously helped formulate an interim agreement in June aimed at restoring navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, lifting the US naval blockade, and initiating broader talks encompassing Iran's nuclear program. Despite Tehran's stated willingness to return to the table, Washington has not yet accepted the proposal or set a date for renewed talks.

Meanwhile, US warships deployed in the Middle East are preparing for a potential escalation as the military plans for possible strikes in the coming weeks. The preparations include large shipments of long-range land-attack missiles and bunker-buster bombs designed to target fortified subterranean sites.

Captain Nicholas Dhiwo, commander of the aircraft carrier USS George Washington, emphasized the readiness of the deployed forces. US officials noted that while no final decision on new strikes has been made by President Trump, forces remain vigilant amid ongoing regional tensions and diplomatic maneuvers.
