Iran launched a new wave of attacks targeting US Navy vessels, according to American officials cited by The Wall Street Journal. The US military has not yet publicly reported this strike, which follows a similar ballistic missile attack launched by Tehran on Saturday against a US aircraft carrier and a destroyer.

Growing Concern in Washington Over Escalation

No US ships were damaged in any of the attacks, but the sequence of attempts has sparked serious concern in Washington. Security officials assess that Tehran intends to escalate the fighting, utilizing more sophisticated weaponry than in the past, and may be receiving assistance from China or Russia.

Iranian sources claimed that the military is employing new missiles with advanced capabilities designed to strike warships. According to expert estimates, these missiles may be equipped with electro-optical tracking systems, enabling them to maneuver toward a moving target through real-time image analysis.

«Using this capability requires Iran to know the approximate position of the warships at the very beginning of the attack, heightening fears that China and Russia are assisting Iran with intelligence tracking.»

Oil Tanker Strikes and US Retaliation

Meanwhile, the Iranian Tasnim news agency and local media reported that an oil tanker was attacked near Kharg Island, with explosions heard in the island's anchorage area alongside a separate explosion reported in the port city of Jask along the Gulf of Oman. Reports indicated there were no casualties and the crew was evacuated.

Concurrently, senior US officials confirmed to Fox News that the US military did strike Iranian oil tankers in these areas as part of a broader effort to economically target Iran.

The American action follows a warning issued by Iran's Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, which stated that if the US harms Iranian oil tankers, the Iranian military will launch extensive attacks against American assets and interests in the region.
