Instagram Update Lets Users Pin Tagged Posts Directly to Their Main Profile Grid
Instagram has launched an update allowing users to display tagged posts directly on their main profile grid. Additionally, the platform highlighted its ephemeral Instants feature.
Instagram is introducing a major update allowing users to feature tagged posts from other users directly on their main profile grid alongside their own content. Previously, tagged posts were restricted to a separate designated tab. Users can now manually curate which tagged photos and videos appear on their main profile by selecting posts from incoming notification messages, the three-dot menu on any post, or via a long-press within the tagged section using the Add to grid option. Tagged content displayed on the grid will feature a special indicator to show the user was tagged, and can be removed from the main profile at any time without deleting the original post. Privacy settings remain strictly tied to the original publisher, meaning posts from public accounts are visible to everyone visiting the profile, while posts from private accounts remain restricted to mutual followers.
In May, the platform also rolled out Instants, a new feature designed for sharing instantaneous, unedited, and temporary photos. Instants are available both as an integrated feature within the social network and as a standalone application on app stores. These ephemeral images can be viewed only once, disappear entirely after 24 hours, and can be shared exclusively with mutual friends or close friends. Viewers cannot see who else has watched the Instants, and publication is strictly limited to the in-app camera without any option to upload external images from the device gallery. Users can attach captions, but photo editing tools are disabled.
