Electric vehicle fire in Rishon LeZion underground parking leaves one dead

A fire broke out this evening, Monday, in the underground parking lot of a residential building in western Rishon LeZion. During firefighting efforts, a person was discovered inside one of the burning vehicles. Following the operation, the individual's death was confirmed.

Police stated that there is currently no suspicion of criminal activity. According to a preliminary assessment, the fire originated in an electric vehicle. It is likely that a self-accident occurred within the parking lot, causing the vehicle to ignite and the fire to spread to other cars.

The blaze occurred in a 20-story building on Achi Dagav Street in the Neve Hof neighborhood. Seventeen fire trucks and 34 firefighters worked for approximately three hours to extinguish the flames under heavy smoke conditions.

Due to the thick smoke, residents of the building were instructed to remain in their apartments. The police have opened an investigation into the circumstances of the fire.

"After the rescue services extinguished the fire, the death of a person who was in the vehicle was confirmed, and his identity is unknown at this stage," authorities stated.

Large police forces from the Rishon LeZion station are currently collecting evidence to clarify the incident. The body will be transferred to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Abu Kabir for identification.
