A 25-year-old man was seriously wounded early Sunday morning in Rahat after being shot by masked assailants at point-blank range.
Dramatic footage of the incident shows the victim entering his vehicle as another car pulls up alongside him. Two masked gunmen exit the vehicle, open the victim's car door, and fire at him from close range. Authorities believe the attack stems from an ongoing conflict between criminal elements.
The shooters arrived at the scene during the dawn prayer. They circled the square visible in the footage before waiting for the victim near his home. As he entered his car, the two carried out the assassination attempt; one gunman opened the door and fired at the victim, while the second fired into the air. Both suspects fled the scene immediately.
MADA received the report of the shooting at 04:30. The wounded man was evacuated to Soroka Hospital in Be'er Sheva. MADA paramedic Ala al-Huzayl, who arrived at the scene, stated: "We found the wounded man fully conscious, suffering from severe penetrating wounds. We provided life-saving medical treatment and evacuated him to the hospital in serious condition."
