According to security officials, Hamas operatives have recently been accessing weapons depots and utilizing the stored armories to conduct guard duties and consolidate control within the Gaza Strip. These warehouses are located in areas still under Hamas control, where the terrorist organizations stockpiled large quantities of diverse weaponry—ranging from Kalashnikov assault rifles to supplementary combat gear and rockets.
The security establishment outlines a clear shift in trends: this is the first time since the ceasefire came into effect that the Shin Bet and the IDF have identified a growing willingness on the part of Hamas to enter into direct confrontation with IDF forces. The escalation began about two weeks ago with the launching of incendiary kites, intensified in recent days with direct gunfire directed at IDF troops stationed along the Yellow Line, and included the detonation of an explosive device targeting an IDF engineering vehicle.
