Blessing for lighting Shabbat candles
After lighting the candles, the woman closes her eyes or covers them with her hands, recites the blessing, and then looks at the candles.
"Blessed are You, Lord our God, King of the universe, who has sanctified us with His commandments and commanded us to kindle the light of Shabbat."
"May it be Your will, Lord my God and God of Israel, that You show favor to me, my husband, and all my relatives, and grant us and all of Israel a good and long life, and remember us with a good memory and blessing, and visit us with salvation and mercy, and dwell Your presence among us, and grant us the merit to raise children and grandchildren who are wise and understanding, who love the Lord, who fear God, people of truth, a holy seed, who are attached to the Lord and illuminate the world with Torah, good deeds, and all the work of serving the Creator. Please, hear my supplication in the merit of Sarah, Rebecca, Rachel, and Leah, our matriarchs, and light our lamp so that it shall never be extinguished, and shine Your face, and we shall be saved.
