Brian Hickerson, the former partner of late actress Hayden Panettiere, was briefly detained in handcuffs following a bar brawl in Greenville, South Carolina, according to footage obtained by TMZ. Hickerson, 37, was not formally arrested and was later released at the scene. Witnesses reported that he and his brother Zach had been drinking heavily before an altercation broke out.
The Bar Fight and Police Response
According to TMZ, Hickerson shouted at responding officers while sitting in handcuffs on the sidewalk, claiming that police leaked that his girlfriend had died. Eyewitness video showed a man in a red baseball cap escorting Hickerson out of the establishment after a chair was reportedly thrown. When police arrived, Hickerson and his brother were involved in a further scuffle outside. Zach was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct after reportedly being heavily intoxicated and shouting profanities.
"The Greenville police leaked that my girlfriend is dead," Hickerson shouted at the officers on the scene.
Tragedy and Past Controversy
The brothers had previously been staying at the Greenville Airbnb apartment where Panettiere tragically passed away at the age of 36. According to police reports, Zach stated that Hickerson was sleeping in a separate room when he found the actress unresponsive, administered Narcan, and attempted CPR while calling 911. Panettiere, known for her roles in Nashville and Heroes, had a turbulent, on-and-off relationship with Hickerson beginning in 2018, which previously involved legal issues regarding domestic violence.
