Hex-Rays Acquires Ventris for Up to $35 Million

Belgian cybersecurity firm Hex-Rays, a leading developer of reverse engineering and code analysis tools, has acquired the Israeli startup Ventris for $30–35 million. Following the acquisition, all Ventris employees will transition to Hex-Rays, and the company plans to hire additional vulnerability researchers and developers with cybersecurity expertise.

Founded last year without venture capital funding, Ventris developed an innovative operating system designed for artificial intelligence agents specializing in security research. The company was founded by Elon Glicksberg, a 25-year-old veteran of Unit 8200, who serves as CEO. Amit Schandel, another Unit 8200 alumnus, joined as co-founder and Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

Advanced AI Agents for Vulnerability Research

The Ventris platform allows security researchers to define and execute research workflows using AI agents, measure their performance, and verify findings. The system analyzes source code and binary files to detect known vulnerabilities, zero-day flaws, malware, and backdoors.

"Our system is designed to significantly improve the quality and quantity of security findings while optimizing AI operational costs," stated the company.

Ventris enables large-scale security research with optimized token consumption. It operates independently of any specific AI model, utilizing open models to reduce reliance on advanced systems from providers like OpenAI and Anthropic, and can function effectively in air-gapped environments.
