Work Begins on Herodian Pools Restoration in the Jordan Valley
Renovation works have begun at the Herodian pools in the Jordan Valley with a 3 million shekel investment, spearheaded by Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich to preserve and develop the historic site.

Renovation work on the Herodian pools, located near Einot Fasael in the Jordan Valley, began on Sunday with an investment of over 3 million shekels. According to Israel Hayom, the project includes the development and preservation of the site, from the spring to the pools below, following instructions from Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and budget allocations he spearheaded.
The launch of the works follows tours conducted by representatives of the Settlement Administration, the Civil Administration, and the Finance Minister's office, as well as a separate tour by MK Tvi Sukkot. The initiative has now entered the implementation phase, aimed at preserving the site and developing it into a hub for travelers.
Smotrich stated: "The launch of the development and preservation process for the Herodian pools is part of a broader momentum of action we are leading in the Settlement Administration to strengthen our foothold, preserve historical sites, and turn them into thriving, safe, and accessible tourist hubs for hundreds of thousands of travelers. We are strengthening settlement not through words, but through deeds and millions of shekels on the ground."
Sukkot criticized the site's previous neglect and emphasized the need to restore water flow and ensure the safety of bathers. "The neglect of the Herodian pools until now was simply an injustice. I am pleased by the swift mobilization of Minister Smotrich and the Settlement Administration."
