Israeli police have concluded a complex and intensive investigation into the murder of Yonit (Janina) Suweda, which took place in late September on HaAtzmaut Street in Haifa. According to the findings, the motive behind the killing was the victim's desire to break up with her partner and leave him.

The investigation was launched following a report of a stabbing incident. Haifa police officers rushing to the scene found the victim lifeless with severe signs of violence, and medical personnel pronounced her dead at the scene. Her partner was arrested immediately at the location on suspicion of committing the murder.

During the intensive month-long investigation conducted by the Carmel Regional Unit (YARIP), detectives uncovered evidence that the suspect attempted to tamper with evidence and fabricate a false narrative suggesting the victim had harmed herself.

Investigators, assisted by the National Institute of Forensic Medicine and the Coast District Forensic Identification Unit, gathered significant evidence, including the murder weapon found at the scene, establishing a solid evidentiary framework linking the suspect to the crime. The suspect's remand was extended periodically by the court.

Upon completion of the investigation, the case file was transferred to the Haifa District Prosecutor's Office, and a prosecutor's statement was filed ahead of a formal indictment expected in the coming days.
