A dramatic rescue operation took place off the coast of Haifa, where a woman swimming at Carmel Beach drifted three kilometers south before being rescued by lifeguards on a jet ski.

The incident began in the afternoon when two women entered the water near the Meridian Hotel. After some time, one of the women returned to shore and, realizing her companion was missing, alerted the lifeguard station, prompting an immediate coastal search using all-terrain vehicles and specialized equipment.

Simultaneously, at Dado South Beach, lifeguard Amir Issak spotted a swimmer in distress and alerted Station 6 manager Ilan Ben-David. Lifeguards Bilal and Khalil were dispatched on a jet ski, locating the exhausted swimmer three kilometers from her starting point and bringing her safely to shore.

Haifa Municipality officials noted that the rescue occurred after the official swimming season ended, though several lifeguard stations remain active at beaches including Dado, Zamir, Carmel, Bat Galim, and Neot.

Rita Sassi, director of the Haifa Municipality Coastal Department, praised the swift response. "This incident demonstrates the critical importance of maintaining lifeguard services beyond the official season. Thanks to the vigilance and professionalism of our team, we averted a tragedy," she stated, urging the public to swim only at authorized beaches during operational hours.
