Hadar Mukhtar awaits Netanyahu's decision: "I haven't changed clothes in 3 days"
Hadar Mukhtar is waiting for Benjamin Netanyahu's decision on whether to allow her to run in the Likud primaries, as she does not meet the party's bylaws. On 103FM, she spoke about the intense pressure and appealed to the Prime Minister: "I can bring you two mandates."
Today, Tuesday, a decision is expected regarding Hadar Mukhtar, specifically whether her seniority requirement will be waived so she can run for the Likud list in the upcoming elections. Mukhtar does not meet the conditions defined in the party's bylaws, and therefore she requires exceptional approval from the movement's chairman, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. In a conversation with Erel Segal and Eyal Berkovic on 103FM radio, she explained why she deserves the opportunity to run.
"Nothing is closed yet. I am very, very stressed," Mukhtar shared at the beginning of the conversation regarding the uncertainty. "I haven't changed clothes in 3 days, I barely sleep at night, I barely eat, I am under immense pressure."
She clarified that she is not asking for any substantive shortcuts other than the permission to run: "I am not asking for a reserved spot in any party. I am only asking for the democratic right to run and accept the will of the voter. That's all! Just let me run. There is a lot of pressure from people against me, some of whom are sitting Knesset members and ministers. I worked for a whole year and spent a lot of money."
Segal expressed support for Mukhtar, stating: "I agree that there is a justified claim here. Every person who wants to run should be allowed to run." Conversely, Berkovic strongly opposed: "She is not suitable." When asked by Segal about the reason for his opposition, Berkovic detailed: "I think that in our politics there should be people who know how to behave. Going around inciting and bothering people — that is her job."
Despite the possibility of being denied the right to run, Mukhtar clarified: "My appreciation and my love for Prime Minister Netanyahu are not dependent on anything. It would be a danger if he is not the next Prime Minister of Israel; I will continue to work for him to be the next Prime Minister."
Towards the end of the interview, Mukhtar appealed directly to Netanyahu with an emotional call:
"This is the most important day of my life, I worked for two years for this. I am appealing to the Prime Minister: I can bring you two mandates, a mandate and a half of young people to Likud. I am coming to work. I need your help, just give me the right to run and accept the will of the voter. That's all."
