Guy Hochman at Likud Primaries: "Ben Gvir's Son Is Here Too"

Comedian Guy Hochman arrived today, Monday, at the Likud primaries, where he spoke with voters and passersby, documenting the atmosphere at the scene. During the video, he asked those present why the Likud party is successful. After being told that "it represents the people and the homeland," he added with his characteristic humor: "And who does he choose in the top five? Ashkenazim." Among the many present, Hochman met a young man who resembles the son of the Minister of National Security and said: "Ben Gvir's son is here too."

Later, during a conversation with one of those present, the comedian said that "the most important thing is transfer," while the other replied: "With God's help." Polling stations across the country opened this morning, from Eilat to Kiryat Shmona, and voting in the Likud movement's primaries is expected to continue until 21:00. About 140,000 Likud members with the right to vote are deciding the fate of 124 candidates, of whom 79 are running on the national list and 45 in the various districts.

Due to high density and reserved spots, the actual struggle is for only about 15 realistic spots. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu holds the authority to determine eight reserved spots in central places in the list (3, 5, 9, 11, 15, 18, 26, and 29), in addition to the spot reserved for Defense Minister Israel Katz. Although Netanyahu refrained from sweeping recommendations, he expressed official support for Knesset member Almog Cohen and district candidates Erez Tadmor and attorney Shlomo Lerner.

As reported by the head of the political desk at C14, Matti Tuchfeld, the battle for female representation on the Likud list is heating up, with 26,586 voters having already exercised their right to vote. In this context, Benjamin Netanyahu sent a message to his supporters to work for the promotion of ministers Miri Regev and Idit Silman to as high positions as possible on the list, at the expense of Knesset member Tali Gottlieb.

According to him, behind the move is the assessment that Gottlieb is expected to reach a high place anyway, while Netanyahu seeks to ensure that Regev and Silman also integrate into the list through the slots intended to ensure representation for women. The goal is to prevent a situation where a significant achievement by Gottlieb among the voters comes at the expense of Regev and Silman, and to strengthen their chances of integrating through the places reserved to ensure female representation in the list.
