Planning a vacation without breaking the bank requires flexibility, early preparation, and keeping an open mind about destinations. According to travel experts at Gulliver, short-term bookings offer attractive flight options for up to $250, alongside vacation packages combining flights and hotels for up to $400 per person.

Tips for Budget Travel

Tamar Garzon, CEO of Gulliver, suggests reversing the traditional search method when planning short-term getaways. Instead of picking a destination first and checking its price, travelers should define a budget and see where it can take them.

When booking short-term vacations, it is sometimes worth reversing the search order. Do not choose a destination first and then check how much it costs, but rather define a budget and see where you can fly with it. This is a way that allows exposure to destinations we might not have thought of in advance, and sometimes also finding a better vacation within the planned budget, Garzon stated.

Available Vacation Packages and Flights

Gulliver highlights several affordable options for autumn 2026:

  • Varna, Bulgaria: Oct 12-14, 2026, 5-star International Hotel (half-board), flights with Israir, $272 per person (double occupancy).

  • Batumi, Georgia: Oct 19-21, 2026, 5-star Euphoria Hotel (breakfast included), flights with Israir, $371 per person (double occupancy).

  • Budapest, Hungary: Nov 1-3, 2026, 4-star Leonardo Hotel (breakfast included), flights with Israir, $389 per person (double occupancy).

  • Prague, Czech Republic: Nov 2-4, 2026, 4-star Adria Hotel (breakfast included), flights with Israir, $400 per person (double occupancy).

  • Paphos, Cyprus: Oct 18-22, 2026, flights with El Al, $142 per person.

  • Athens, Greece: Oct 18-22, 2026, flights with Arkia, $250 per person.

Security Concerns for Travelers Abroad

Amid these travel trends, Israeli security firm SIH reports a surge of over 300% in inquiries regarding security for delegations and organized tours abroad following the Fly Dubai flight incident.

The event touched a sensitive nerve for every Israeli traveling abroad regarding the sense of security outside the country's borders. The increase in inquiries reflects a clear need for organizers to examine how to provide participants with a professional security envelope throughout the trip, said Gadi Kalai, VP of Security at SIH.
