From Beaufort to Litani: Golani Brigade Withdraws from Lebanon After Destroying 900 Targets

The Golani Brigade combat team, operating under the 36th Division, concluded an intensive and prolonged period of combat in the security zone of southern Lebanon on Wednesday and is now heading out for a period of rest and reinforcement. Over recent months, brigade forces fought along the historic Beaufort Ridge and adjacent sectors to push back the threat against northern Israeli communities. In a recent targeted operation, the fighters reached the Litani River area, where they uncovered and destroyed weapons stockpiles and Hezbollah compounds, part of a total tally of more than 900 destroyed terror infrastructures.

In Golani, we always win, we do not return without executing, we never break, commanders lead from the front, we preserve the heroism and legacy of the fallen and remain human beings—even in the face of the enemy. This is how we operated and how we will continue to operate.'
Colonel Kayouf touched upon the price of bereavement and injuries exacted by the combat, but pointed to the direct security achievement beyond the border: 'The combat during these months has exacted a heavy price that we paid, but there is also a reward. Look around you: communities conducting life and celebrating holidays, open businesses, and kindergartens continuing their routine. This is what we fought for and continue to fight for.'
Golani's operations were conducted as part of the broader IDF effort to establish a security zone free of terror infrastructure in southern Lebanon, preventing anti-tank missile fire and infiltration threats against confrontation line communities. The combination of clearing Hezbollah strongholds on the Beaufort Ridge and deep raids into the Litani area aims to cut off the organization's supply lines and deny it the ability to rapidly recover. The departure of Golani fighters for rest comes after months of severe attrition, with the intelligence and infrastructure uncovered granting the IDF broad operational freedom of action to maintain quiet in the north.
