Global stock exchanges experienced a particularly positive trading day, led by Wall Street where the Nasdaq climbed 1.7%, the S&P 500 added 1.1%, and the Dow Jones rose 0.5%. This upward trend follows strong sessions in Europe, where the DAX gained 1.1%, the CAC rose 0.9%, and the FTSE increased 0.8%, as well as in Asia.

AI Frenzy and Chip Giants Surge

Simultaneously, oil prices saw a sharp decline, with Brent crude dropping 3.6% to $100.1 a barrel, while WTI plummeted 4.5% to $95.7 a barrel. The artificial intelligence frenzy continued unabated, with Meta shares climbing 8.5%, while chipmakers posted even more dramatic gains. Intel skyrocketed 15%, ARM jumped 14%, and AMD rose 9%. The catalyst behind these surges was a report that Muse, Meta's AI agent launched on September 8, captured the number one spot on the US iPhone free app chart within just ten days.

The connection between the staggering success of Muse and the surge in chip stocks is clear: AI agents require not only GPUs for training models, but a massive amount of CPU work to operate them over time. This popularity is expected to generate an unprecedented wave of demand for processors.

Hollywood Merger Clears Regulatory Hurdles

Media giants Warner Bros. and Paramount Skydance surged 8% and 9% respectively, following a dramatic development that significantly reduced the chances of blocking their colossal $110 billion merger. Paramount reached a settlement with California and other states that opposed the acquisition, removing a major obstacle to completion.

Under the terms of the agreement, the merged company will commit to distributing at least 30 films in theaters annually, backed by a hefty $30 million penalty for each missing film. According to Bloomberg, if the company fails to meet this commitment, it may even be required to sell its stakes in Miramax.

Crypto Rally and Greenland Mining Boom

Meanwhile, the ongoing rally in digital currencies pushed crypto-related stocks higher, with Coinbase rising 4.8%, Robinhood adding 3.7%, and Strategy surging 8%. However, the biggest spectacles of the day were small American energy and mining companies operating in Greenland. Following President Donald Trump's announcement of a new security agreement regarding the Arctic island, shares skyrocketed: Greenland Mines flew up by 258%, and Greenland Energy jumped 148%.
