Givati Reconnaissance Battalion Bus Catches Fire at Southern Military Base
A bus carrying Givati Reconnaissance Battalion soldiers caught fire at a southern military base before troops were evacuated. No injuries occurred, and the IDF is investigating.
An unusual incident occurred at a military base in the south of the country when a bus carrying Givati Reconnaissance Battalion soldiers caught fire just moments before the troops were evacuated. No injuries were reported, and the IDF is investigating the circumstances of the fire.
The bus, filled with soldiers scheduled to leave the Mishmar Hanegev base for training in Tze'elim, caught fire after a soldier smelled a strong gas odor, prompting an immediate evacuation. Secondary explosions occurred, potentially linked to a gas cylinder and ammunition stored in the luggage compartment, though the military attributes the incident to a technical malfunction.
An IDF spokesperson stated that a fire broke out earlier today at a military base in the southern district due to an apparent vehicle malfunction. IDF forces, assisted by firefighting and rescue teams, gained control of the blaze and extinguished it. The incident caused minor property damage with zero casualties and remains under active investigation.
