Former Israeli ambassador to the UN, Gilad Erdan, revealed this evening (Tuesday) the name of his new party: "The Unity Party". In a speech delivered in Beit Shemesh, during which he also announced the official joining of Knesset member Aliza Bloch to the party's ranks, he stated that the party's slogan will be "True Right. True Enlistment".

"I am proud to announce here, in Beit Shemesh, that the name of the party is Unity," he said.

Ardan explained that the party is named this way "not because we agree on everything, but because there is no other choice". He clarified that "unity is enlistment for everyone, it is shared responsibility, it is our path and our commitment — it is our name". "We will fight for unity without compromise," he concluded.

As previously mentioned, former mayor of Beit Shemesh, Aliza Bloch, announced last night her joining of Erdan's party. Bloch, who considered many offers from figures of the "third bloc", accepted the offer of Erdan and his partner Yuli Edelstein to be integrated into the party's list — and she is the first to do so.

Last week, Erdan announced the establishment of the party and the placement of Edelstein in the second spot on the list. "Unfortunately, I cannot call the Likud home anymore. The Likud representatives no longer represent the party's voters whom I love so much," he said. "I chose the State of Israel. Right-wing voters who do not want to see draft evasion and right-wing voters in the opposition who do not want to see the left — we are your home."
