Former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant Calls for National Unity Government
Former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant called for a national unity government and warned against relying on Arab parties, while sharply criticizing the coalition's exemption bill.

Former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, who was dismissed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, called for the establishment of a national unity government on Thursday and warned against reliance on Arab parties.
In a post published on his official X account, Gallant stated: "Unity and not dependence - now is the time to establish a Jewish, Zionist, national unity government. Personal and political considerations must not lead to the formation of a government that depends on parties that do not recognize Israel as the nation-state of the Jewish people."
Gallant, who has maintained a relatively low profile in the media since his dismissal from office, previously addressed critical national issues during extensive interviews nearly a year ago. At the time, he touched upon the controversial military exemption bill and the possibility of a pardon for the prime minister.
"An innocent person does not need to ask for a pardon," Gallant asserted then, adding, "A prime minister who claims to be innocent needs an acquittal at the end of a trial. It is certainly not good for the country for a prime minister to stand trial, but canceling the trial is not a good solution either."
In addition, Gallant sharply criticized the military exemption bill advanced by the coalition, noting that the ruling Likud party has deviated from its core principles. Furthermore, he addressed tensions between Defense Minister Israel Katz and the military leadership, urging Prime Minister Netanyahu to restore internal order and leadership.
