A 50-year-old mother from Florida was arrested after allegedly leaving her four children home alone for several days while traveling to Las Vegas for a work trip. The case came to light after her nine-year-old son sustained a head injury from a falling weight.

Irene Miller, a professional photographer from Kissimmee, Florida, flew to Las Vegas on October 18 for a five-day business trip. During her absence, her four children, aged 9, 11, 12, and 14, were left alone at the family residence. Police arrived at the home following an emergency call reporting that the youngest child had been struck in the head by a falling dumbbell. Officers discovered all four children unattended, and the injured boy was transported to a hospital, treated, and subsequently released.

Investigators contacted Miller by phone in Nevada, where she maintained she had arranged for a babysitter to care for the children during the day. However, she admitted that no adult was present overnight. Following the incident, the children's father was contacted and took them into his custody.

Authorities awaited Miller's return to Florida, arresting her upon her arrival at the airport on Friday. She faces four counts of child neglect without great bodily harm. Osceola County Sheriff Chris Blackmon emphasized that law enforcement takes child neglect cases with the utmost seriousness.
