Finance Ministry Plans Budget Cuts to Fund IDF Defense Needs
The Ministry of Finance plans a cross-board budget cut across ministries before the elections to inject billions of shekels into the defense establishment for urgent needs.

The Ministry of Finance is preparing to implement a cross-board budget cut across government ministries prior to the upcoming elections to inject billions of shekels into the defense establishment.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had previously instructed to reopen the state budget to allocate tens of billions to defense and secure a 400 billion shekel military buildup plan. However, the move stalled due to opposition pushback regarding coalition funds.
A new solution is currently being formulated to fund urgent military procurement, including combat helicopters. Defense officials criticized the planned cuts as insufficient, noting a much larger funding gap for 2026.
