Political Argument at Holiday Dinner Triggers Israeli Divorce Crisis
A holiday family dinner in Israel turned into a divorce crisis after a political argument over Benjamin Netanyahu escalated into a shouting match, police intervention, and an ultimatum.

A festive family holiday dinner in Israel unexpectedly turned into a full-scale marital crisis, ending with a police call and a demand for divorce after a heated political argument.
The Spark at the Dinner Table
The couple, married for ten years and both working as electronics engineers at major high-tech companies, gathered for a holiday dinner at the wife's parents' home. The conversation initially touched upon a recent dramatic incident involving a flydubai flight, with the couple praising the Israeli passengers who intervened and prevented a potential disaster.
However, the atmosphere shifted instantly when the wife's mother interjected with sharp political criticism aimed at Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The husband, feeling that the remarks crossed a line, snapped at his mother-in-law to stop. The father-in-law immediately intervened, slamming his fist on the table and ordering the husband not to shout at his wife's mother.
"Stop with this, it's already crossing every line," the husband recalled telling his mother-in-law before the situation completely spiraled out of control.
Police Intervention and an Ultimatum
The argument escalated into a loud shouting match that drew the attention of neighbors, ultimately leading to a police call and the couple's abrupt departure. Inside the car on the way home, the confrontation continued as the husband blamed his wife for remaining passive and failing to defend him against her parents' hostility.
Seeking legal counsel from attorney Sharin Soleh, the husband announced his decision to move out and filed an ultimatum: he would only return if they sold their joint apartment, which is located near his in-laws' home.
