If Maccabi Tel Aviv is not short on troubles and, above all, uncertainty — in light of the demands of several players to leave immediately, alongside the lack of movement in the squad due to the full quota of foreign players — it now turns out that Ido Shahar has also refused the club's offer to extend his contract. The midfielder, who is in demand in the USA, also wants to leave Kiryat Shalom immediately.

Shahar, who had his career-best season last year with 13 goals (second on the team only to Dor Peretz), is very disappointed with his current salary — one of the lowest in the squad relative to his contribution, standing at only about 200,000 euros. After his demand to double his salary was not met, and following the exercise of the option in his contract for the upcoming season, Shahar rejected the offer from the sporting director, the Belgian Steven Vanharen, to extend the engagement. This means that as early as this coming January, the midfielder will be able to freely conduct negotiations with other clubs. Despite the significant interest he is attracting in the MLS, it appears that Maccabi Tel Aviv will not allow him to leave in the current window. The assessment is that Shahar will remain with the team until the end of the season, and afterwards will leave as a free agent.
