Is this a real product? Lululemon's giant bag has become a joke online
The fashion giant launched an 80-liter bag priced at $248. Despite mocking reactions, the company was prepared for the ridicule and explained the rationale: "Why pack just one outfit when you can pack them all?"

The giant bag that became a joke: Fashion giant Lululemon has launched a new product — an 80-liter bag sold for $248. While the company uploaded a special explanation on its official website titled "Why we made this," users reacted with mockery to the massive volume and suggested creative uses for such a bag.
The company claimed that the bag, called "Big-Ass Bag 80L," was created to meet a specific need: "Why pack just one outfit when you can pack them all? Carry clothes, groceries, or laundry in style with this massive shoulder bag, which comes with padded straps for maximum comfort."
One review on the official website wrote: "It's bigger than my gas tank. I'm so excited to have a jerrycan that fits my style. Can't wait for the next trip where I won't have to stop for gas!" Another noted: "My mom always managed to cram her whole life into her wallet; now she can carry my dad's life, my sister's life, and all of ours in this bag!"
In a TikTok video posted over the weekend, a content creator known as "The Haul Report" crawled into the bag and managed to fit inside almost completely. "This could work as a security system," the creator said. "If someone breaks into your house, you can just hide inside." Another user said she tried to take it on a flight but encountered resistance: "The airline wouldn't agree to count it as a personal carry-on, even though it barely held clothes and shoes for a whole week, and my cat too."
Many reviews continued to mock the bag's monstrous size. "I only manage to fit two of my five children in this bag, but I need all of them with me to get to places faster," read a 2-star review. In response to a 3-star review complaining that the bag was "too small," the Lululemon support team replied with humor: "New mission: make an even bigger bag."
A check conducted on the E! Online website showed that the bag can easily hold 24 rolls of industrial toilet paper, 375 apples, or 12 large rolled-up beach towels. The paradox is that the bag itself is so huge that it comes with an additional small bag (Mini Tote) whose only role is to serve as a storage case into which the large bag is folded when not in use.
So, is it a marketing gimmick or a real product? The answer is probably both. The product is made of high-quality materials, is water-resistant, and includes padded straps with silicone grip. It is marketed as a solution for extreme situations like moving house or a full day at the beach with the whole family. At the same time, it is clear that Lululemon knew exactly what kind of noise this name and size would make, and it was prepared for it.
