The Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation, Kan, held an event on Wednesday at Naimi Park at the Mesubim junction to launch the autumn-winter 2026/27 broadcast season. During the evening, the corporation presented a variety of new programs and series set to air in the coming months.
At the center of the announcements is a new season of the hit series 'Checkout' (Kupa Rashit), which will feature a special episode to be broadcast on election night, just before the exit poll results. Additionally, the new series by Matan Halek, 'People I Met', and the economic reality format 'Double the Money' were unveiled. Zivit Davidovich, acting VP of Programming at Kan, also announced a second season for the series 'Ha-Pshuta', which became a summer hit with over 6.5 million views across all platforms.
On the international front, the corporation announced an expanded partnership with the streaming giant Netflix. As part of this new content deal, leading projects from the corporation will be available on Netflix, including 'Happy Place', 'All Mothers Lie', 'Karamel', 'Home Alone', and 'Checkout'.
Another highlight of the event occurred when the corporation's CEO, Golan Yochpaz, awarded the 2026 Kan Prize to the 2026 World Cup broadcast project. The reasoning for the award stated that the project served as a statement on the essence of public broadcasting:
'A production that did not fall short in quality from international bodies, free broadcasts, advanced broadcast technology, and a breakthrough in streaming content via Kan BOX with excellent technical quality.'
