MK Gadi Eisenkot promised bereaved families in September that he would not form a government with Arab parties, according to Meirav Hajaj, a member of the "Choosing Life" forum whose daughter Shir was killed in a terror attack. Speaking to the press, Hajaj revealed that families met with Eisenkot on September 22 to present a comprehensive 1,000-page investigative report detailing alleged financial ties between Ra'am and Hamas, as well as outlawed organizations.

"Look me in the eye": The pledge to families

Recalling the meeting, Hajaj stated that Eisenkot gave a firm personal commitment regarding future political alliances. According to her testimony, the lawmaker looked her in the eye and assured her that he would neither sit with nor rely upon Arab factions to establish a governing coalition.

Despite this assurance, Hajaj expressed deep skepticism regarding whether the pledge would be honored amid shifting political dynamics. She voiced concern that political expediency could lead to future cooperation with Arab factions.

Calls for a police investigation

During the interview, Hajaj addressed allegations regarding financial flows and foreign interference, asserting that the forum's dossier included specific data on cash transfers linked to Ra'am. She noted that the Shin Bet had previously asked the forum to supply additional details to assist with ongoing verifications.

Criticizing what she perceived as institutional inaction, Hajaj called on Inspector General of Police Danny Levi to launch a thorough and impartial investigation into the origins of the funds. She stressed that the families are merely demanding a rigorous law enforcement review rather than political bias.

Stance on new elections

Addressing the broader political outlook, Hajaj dismissed the viability of a national unity government, labeling it a paralysis-inducing arrangement. She maintained that only fresh elections could resolve the current political stalemate, emphasizing that bereaved families will continue their public advocacy to ensure full accountability.
