Gadi Eisenkot: Netanyahu Unfit for Office Following UAE Warning Report
Yashar party leader Gadi Eisenkot declared Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu unfit for office following reports that Netanyahu ignored a pre-October 7 attack warning from UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed.
MK and leader of the "Yashar!" party, Gadi Eisenkot, addressed a media report regarding a warning issued by UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu prior to the October 7 massacre. According to the report, the UAE leader warned Netanyahu of an impending attack prepared by Yahya Sinwar from the Gaza Strip, a warning that the prime minister allegedly ignored.
"Good evening, this morning another staggering detail was revealed regarding Netanyahu's conduct in the days leading up to October 7," Eisenkot said. "A pattern of conduct that should trouble the sleep of every citizen in the State of Israel. A path of recklessness and complacency that led us to our heaviest disaster. If the report is true, this constitutes a severe breach of public trust, extraordinary negligence in the prime minister's performance, and disregard for critical information delivered to him personally—information that could have altered the course of an entire nation, saving thousands of murdered and wounded in body and soul."
The Demand for a State Commission of Inquiry
Nearly three years after October 7, Eisenkot emphasized that while major questions remain regarding the events leading up to the failure, one fact is undisputed: Netanyahu is no longer fit to serve as prime minister.
«Not for nothing is he currently fighting the battle of his life—blocking a commission of inquiry, concealing the truth, fleeing responsibility, rewriting history, and shifting the blame onto others. I promise you: a state commission of inquiry will be established, the full protocols will be exposed, and the whitewashing will end.»
Eisenkot added that bereaved families, captivity survivors, reservists, and all Israeli citizens deserve complete answers.
A Pattern of Dismissing Warnings
Eisenkot criticized Netanyahu's handling of intelligence, stating that the prime minister closed his eyes, plugged his ears, and continued business as usual without updating any defense establishment heads.
"For any other responsible leader, this would have been a black flag," Eisenkot stated. He further revealed that he himself had submitted a severe warning document to Netanyahu just six weeks before the disaster, which the prime minister chose to ignore without convening an emergency discussion or situational assessment.
