Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu inspected the construction site of the new security barrier along Israel's eastern border near kibbutz Massada in the Jordan Valley on Thursday, presenting a comprehensive plan to strengthen regional defense.

Expanding the Eastern Border Barrier

Accompanied by Defense Minister Israel Katz and senior military officials, including Head of the Border and Seam Line Administration Maj. Gen. Eran Ofir and 96th Division Commander Brig. Gen. Oren Simcha, Netanyahu reviewed ongoing engineering efforts. The ambitious project will span from the Yarmouk River in the north down to Eilat in the south, incorporating advanced anti-drone technologies and coordinated IDF deployments.

"We are surrounding the State of Israel with a massive barrier," Netanyahu declared during the tour. "Do not test us."

Combining Defense and Offense

Netanyahu emphasized that the eastern barrier serves as an additional layer of security, complementing established security zones in Lebanon, Syria, and the Gaza Strip. He praised the massive logistical and engineering mobilization of both regular troops and reservists involved in the project.

Defense Minister Israel Katz echoed these remarks, stressing that while the physical barrier is vital, Israel's core strategic doctrine remains proactive and offensive. "First and foremost comes attack, the destruction of the enemy, the removal of threats, and simultaneously a strong defense to protect Israeli citizens," Katz stated.
