Professor Uzi Rabi, a researcher at the Moshe Dayan Center for Middle Eastern and African Studies at Tel Aviv University, commented on the dramatic security incident aboard a flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv. Speaking in an interview with 103FM, he addressed the misconception surrounding the term "lone wolf" terrorist.

The Illusion of the "Lone Wolf"

"One of the things commonly said in the investigation is that this is a lone wolf. There is something clearly misleading about this phrase—it does not grow out of nowhere. These are people who are constantly incited by a network of provocation managed by jihadist organizations and sometimes even states," Rabi noted. He added that Arab countries, including the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, are experiencing severe internal challenges as the Arab world closely monitors security vulnerabilities in the region.

A Modern Evolution of Global Jihad

Comparing the incident to the events of September 11, Rabi emphasized the sophistication of modern decentralized terror networks:

You do not need to send a squad and train it; you simply need to influence people through the network. We know that at least regarding the Omani co-pilot, he underwent a process of radicalization.

He stressed the alarming vulnerability of critical cockpit infrastructure and called for enhanced international intelligence sharing and monitoring systems.

Geopolitical Ramifications and US Policy

Rabi also expressed support for the decisive stance taken by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who ordered an Iranian delegation to immediately leave United States territory. Concluding with a grim outlook on regional stability, Rabi warned that hostile state actors facing existential pressure are likely to resort to drastic game-changing escalations.
