Double for Mikhail Iakovlev in Poland: Sprint Victory
The Olympic track cyclist completed an excellent performance at the Grand Prix of Poland, winning the keirin and setting a track record in the sprint qualifiers.
Olympic track cyclist Mikhail Iakovlev of Maccabi DROPS Tel Aviv has secured a double victory in Poland. Following his win in the keirin heat over the weekend, Iakovlev concluded the 2036 Cup competition at the Grand Prix of Poland on Sunday with another victory, this time in the sprint event.
Iakovlev, who recently began training with Igor Krimsky, the former coach of the Polish national team, opened the competition by breaking the track record in the qualifying heat. He stopped the clock at 9.473 seconds in the flying 200 meters and continued through the sprint stages to secure the final win.
Thus, he finishes the UCI Class 2 competition in Poland with an impressive double: first place in both the keirin and the sprint. It was an excellent week for Iakovlev on the international stage, marked by high speed, victories, and crucial UCI ranking points.
