Cyprus Eyes Israeli Defense Systems as Regional Dynamics Shift
Cyprus eyes Israeli defense systems, Turkey shifts towards diplomacy with Iran over the Mecca Pact, and Gulf logistics sectors surge amid regional supply chain shifts.

Cyprus is seeking to acquire advanced Israeli defense systems, including the Iron Dome and the Lite Beam laser system, following successful military cooperation and a surge in Israeli defense exports. According to local media, Nicosia aims to strengthen its air defense capabilities by integrating mobile tactical solutions against drones and unmanned aerial vehicles.
Meanwhile, regional alliances face shifting dynamics as Turkey reportedly avoids military involvement in the Mecca Pact with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, opting instead for diplomatic engagement with Iran. Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan emphasized dialogue, while President Recep Tayyip Erdogan navigates domestic parliamentary requirements regarding the pact.
At the same time, the Gulf region's economy adapts to ongoing conflicts, particularly regarding maritime disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz. Real estate and logistics sectors are experiencing a significant boom as companies stockpile goods and expand warehousing infrastructure in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to secure supply chains.
