Couples in Israel are finding a novel way to announce their weddings by replacing traditional invitations with customized bags of Osem-Nestle's iconic Bamba snack, featuring their own photos and personalized text.

According to the official Osem-Nestle platform, customers can design and order personalized Bamba bags through a dedicated online tool. A pack of 20 bags, each weighing 50 grams, costs 120 shekels, translating to six shekels per bag, excluding shipping fees that start at 28 shekels for smaller orders. For instance, preparing custom snacks for 100 guests would cost 600 shekels before delivery charges.

How the Customization Process Works

Users can choose from various festive templates tailored for weddings and other celebrations, upload personal photographs, and add custom captions. After reviewing a digital simulation of the packaging and confirming the order, the customized bags enter production. However, organizers must account for delivery timeframes, as manufacturing and shipping can take up to 28 business days, prompting the manufacturer to advise placing orders roughly a month and a half in advance.

Beyond Invitations: A Keepsake for Guests

These branded snack bags serve multiple purposes, functioning either as an unconventional save-the-date notice or as a parting gift for guests at the end of the reception. While providing a playful touch, planners note that couples utilizing the snack as a primary invitation must still separately communicate essential logistical details such as venue locations and exact timings.

This trend joins a history of creative wedding invitations in Israel. In 2015, wedding photographer Liran Keinan sent chocolate bars as invitations, which left some recipients surprised by the envelope's weight while others requested duplicates simply to enjoy the confection. Other notable examples include a couple who designed their invites to resemble vinyl record sleeves complete with custom discs, and another pair who distributed authentic-feeling passports in 2017.
