Ceremony cancelled at the last minute: Prime Minister will not visit Sderot

The ceremony for the launch of the umbrella agreement in Sderot, which Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other politicians were expected to attend, has been cancelled. This is due to the ban on holding rallies and ceremonies involving politicians ahead of the elections.
The notice of cancellation was received on Tuesday from the Ministry of Construction, even though, according to the organizers, coordination had been completed in advance. A small audience was expected to attend the ceremony, including municipal department heads and professionals.
"The decision to block the ceremony came from the Ministry of Justice, which passed the matter to the Ministry of Construction, who then notified the Sderot Municipality," stated one of the organizers. Netanyahu, Minister of Finance Bezalel Smotrich, and ministers Haim Katz and Zeev Elkin from the Likud party were scheduled to participate.
The total budget of the agreement stands at approximately 1.9 billion shekels, of which development works are estimated at 1.6 billion shekels, the cost of public institutions is estimated at 230 million shekels, and approximately 90 million shekels have been allocated for infrastructure upgrades.
