Israeli Parking App CheaPark Reaches Number One on the App Store
Israeli startup CheaPark ranks first on the App Store, offering drivers real-time parking price comparisons, availability tracking, and automated discount calculations.
Finding parking in major cities is one of the most frustrating daily tasks for drivers. Beyond simply locating a vacant spot, motorists often have to calculate total costs, distance to their destination, and potential discounts. Addressing this exact challenge, CheaPark is a new free Israeli application that compares parking lot prices and real-time availability.
The application was created by 27-year-old software developer Ido Bari, a resident of central Tel Aviv. The idea sparked about six months ago due to the recurring difficulty of finding parking when his partner visited him by car. The search required factoring in arrival times, parking duration, complex rate structures, discounts, walking distances, and available spaces in every nearby lot.
Development and Rapid Growth
Bari decided to build a comprehensive solution himself, developing the app over several weeks using Claude Code. During development, his partner acted as the primary beta tester, evaluating user interfaces and features to ensure optimal usability.
Initially operating under the radar with about 1,200 downloads among friends, the app was soon released to the wider public. Within less than a week, downloads surged past 8,000, propelling CheaPark to the number one spot on the free apps chart in the Israeli App Store.

How CheaPark Works
Users enter their desired destination, maximum acceptable walking distance, arrival time, and planned duration. The app also allows motorists to input relevant discounts, such as municipal resident perks.
Once data is submitted, CheaPark displays relevant parking options nearby, detailing the total calculated cost, distance to the target destination, and real-time available spaces. Selecting a lot initiates direct GPS navigation.
Currently available in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Herzliya, and Haifa for iOS devices, an Android version is currently in development. Bari continues to manage development single-handedly, releasing two to three updates weekly based on user feedback as expansion to additional employment centers continues.
