A strange viral video has been circulating in the last few hours on the X network, documenting three men emerging in the middle of the night in the heart of Manhattan from a sewer, dressed in overalls and equipped with headlamps. The footage of the three climbing quickly from the depths of the sewer opening on a main street has caused alarm and led to the opening of an investigation by the New York Police Department.

However, this is not an isolated case, but a broad and highly unusual phenomenon. The current documentation comes just two months after two similar cases were recorded in Williamsburg and Gravesend, raising suspicions that this is a widespread trend.
An investigation conducted underground by the local police emergency unit and the Department of Environmental Protection revealed that these are apparently "treasure hunters"—people who enter the massive New York sewer system, which spans about 7,500 miles, in search of valuable items such as wallets or jewelry that have fallen through street grates.
Following this phenomenon, the police clarified that sewer systems may contain toxic and deadly gases. Authorities warned against the dangers of flooding and unstable surfaces, calling on the public not to enter pipes or drainage channels. As of now, the police are continuing to investigate the video, and no arrests have been made in the case yet.
