Nightmare on a Wizz Air flight to Israel: 300 passengers removed from the plane, police involved
All passengers were already on board, the flight attendants announced the end of boarding and locked the doors, but one moment before the plane began to move, a single passenger caused panic with his immediate demand to leave the aircraft.
Nerve-wracking drama, anxiety, and heavy concern over a security incident: a flight by the low-cost airline Wizz Air, which was on its way yesterday (Friday) from Rome to Israel, turned into a nightmare within minutes for about 300 passengers after one passenger stood up from his seat and interrupted the takeoff at the last moment.
Seconds after the plane doors were closed and the crew announced the end of boarding, the unidentified man demanded to get off the plane immediately. He refused to communicate, did not utter a word in English or Italian, and only stared at those around him with a frozen and hollow look. The puzzling behavior and the refusal to provide an explanation immediately raised the stress and suspicion levels in the closed cabin.
Following the serious security concerns, the captain stopped the takeoff and urgently summoned security forces and local police. The flight was cancelled, and all passengers were evacuated back to the terminal.
While the passenger was detained and questioned by the police, all passengers and their luggage were removed from the plane for a security re-screening. Only after the completion of the checks did the company organize an alternative flight, about 8 hours after the original departure time. After in-depth inquiries, it turned out that the reason for the delay was the passenger's fear of violating the Sabbath, which led him to demand to leave the plane immediately.
Wizz Air stated:
"The flight from Rome to Tel Aviv was delayed due to an additional security check. Passengers were asked to disembark the plane so that the additional check could be carried out. The safety of passengers and crew remains the company's top priority."
