California Festival Criticized After Woman Dies and Body Remains on Lawn
A woman died from a suspected heat-related medical emergency at the Carson Jazz Festival in California, while organizers faced heavy criticism for failing to halt the event or remove the body.

A tragic incident occurred in California during the Carson Jazz Festival, near Los Angeles, where a woman collapsed and died on the lawn while the festival continued without interruption.
Festival Controversy and Sheila E.'s Reaction
The incident came to light after musician Sheila E. expressed outrage on social media for not being informed about the tragedy before her performance. She performed unaware that the victim's body remained covered on the grass surrounded by grieving family members.
"I never would have gotten on stage if I had known that woman's body was still on the lawn, with her family surrounding her," the musician stated in an Instagram video.
Extreme Heat and Organizational Failures
The victim was identified as Sherry Sanders, who was found unconscious and pronounced dead after resuscitation efforts failed. Temperatures on the day of the event soared to 37 degrees Celsius (98 Fahrenheit), likely contributing to the fatal medical emergency.
Sheila E. criticized the municipal authorities and festival organizers for severe logistical shortcomings during the extreme weather conditions, noting a critical lack of accessible drinking water stations for attendees.
