Lauren Boebert Faces New Allegations of Misconduct
US Representative Lauren Boebert is facing a severe political and ethical storm following a complaint filed with the House Ethics Committee. The complaint alleges that the 39-year-old Republican congresswoman engaged in sexual relationships with three of her congressional staffers—two women and a man. Additionally, the filing claims she paid $200,000 in hush money to one of the employees to prevent an ethics report.
The complaint was submitted by David Wheeler, a political activist and head of the American Muckrakers organization, who has targeted Boebert for years. Among those named in the document are current Chief of Staff Raven Pingen, former Chief of Staff Jeffrey Small, and former District Director Clarissa Navarro Ratzlaff. Congressional rules strictly prohibit lawmakers from engaging in sexual relationships with direct subordinates.
"I am not a lesbian or bisexual, and I have never, ever been in an inappropriate relationship, nor have I been sexually involved with any employee," Boebert stated, strongly denying the accusations.
Denials and Previous Controversies
Navarro Ratzlaff also fiercely rejected the claims, calling them completely false and ridiculous. Meanwhile, political analysts note that Wheeler's organization previously published unverified and flawed claims against Boebert in 2022, urging caution regarding the latest filing. Even Boebert's ex-husband, Jason Boebert, dismissed the allegations as a fabricated story.
This controversy follows a history of public scandals for the congresswoman, including her September 2023 ejection from a theatrical performance in Denver for disruptive behavior and vaping. Boebert remains defiant, attributing the new accusations to politically motivated attacks aimed at generating clickbait ahead of upcoming political cycles.
