Valley National Bancorp Acquires Bluevine for $340 Million

Israeli fintech company Bluevine has been acquired by Valley National Bancorp, the parent company of the U.S.-based Valley National Bank, in a definitive agreement valued at approximately $340 million (just over 1 billion shekels). Founded in 2013 by Israeli entrepreneurs Eyal Lifshitz and Nir Klar, Bluevine operates a major research and development center in Tel Aviv.

Bluevine specializes in digital banking for small businesses in the United States, serving approximately 175,000 active clients. The company’s platform integrates business checking accounts, payments, bill pay, invoicing, credit, and financial management tools. Bluevine holds approximately $2.1 billion in digital-sourced deposits, which grew at an average annual rate of about 35% from 2023 through the second quarter of 2026.

Strategic Expansion and Digital Integration

For Valley National Bank, the acquisition is part of a broader strategy to expand its small business banking operations and accelerate its digital and artificial intelligence initiatives. The transaction will bring approximately 180 R&D professionals and engineers from technology centers in the United States and Tel Aviv into the bank.

"The acquisition of Bluevine is expected to strengthen our financing capabilities, add a growth platform in the small business sector, and accelerate our digital and AI capabilities," said Ira Robbins, Chairman, President, and CEO of Valley National Bank.

Transaction Details and Future Leadership

The transaction consideration is expected to consist of approximately 75% cash and 25% Valley National Bancorp stock. The acquisition is slated to close in early 2027, subject to customary regulatory approvals. Following the completion of the deal, Bluevine founder Eyal Lifshitz is set to join Valley National Bank as Head of Small Business Banking.
