The National Insurance Institute (Bituach Leumi) has released the updated payment schedules and reporting dates for October 2026. Unlike September, which saw numerous schedule changes due to the holidays, payment dates have returned to their regular schedule this month.

Benefit Payment Timelines

Beneficiaries of unemployment benefits and income support were the first to receive their monthly payments, with accounts credited on October 12. Child allowances, where the base amount for a first child stands at approximately 169 NIS, were paid on Tuesday, October 20.

The main payment date for long-term beneficiaries—including general disability, old-age, survivors, nursing care, and disabled child allowances—is set for Wednesday, October 28. In 2026, the full general disability allowance for an individual stands at 4,711 NIS, while the basic old-age allowance for an individual is 1,838 NIS, reaching up to 2,757 NIS including maximum seniority increments.

Annual Heating Grant Distribution

Additionally, Bituach Leumi is distributing the annual heating grant for eligible senior citizens in October. In 2026, the grant amount is 664 NIS per household, an increase from 649 NIS paid last year. The payment is designed to help eligible recipients cope with winter heating and electricity expenses.

The grant is paid once a year and is transferred automatically to bank accounts for those meeting the criteria, without requiring a special application.

To qualify for the heating grant, individuals must have reached retirement age and receive an old-age pension, special old-age benefit, or survivors' pension, alongside meeting specific income supplementation criteria.
