Benny Gantz slammed by Yair Golan: "This is an unforgivable mistake. Go home"
The chairman of the "Democrats" party, Yair Golan, issued a sharp critique of Benny Gantz, claiming his past decisions saved the Netanyahu government. Golan labeled these actions an "unforgivable mistake" and suggested Gantz should retire from politics.
Yair Golan, chairman of the "Democrats" party, was a guest on the podcast of Itay Segal from All In, where he addressed the struggles of the "Blue and White" party led by Benny Gantz to gain significant support from the Israeli public.
Golan criticized Gantz's decision-making over the years and stated he would not forgive him for moves that he claims helped stabilize the right-wing government:
"Benny Gantz came into politics as a great hope to replace Netanyahu. I think that at the beginning of his political path he did things that were exceptional. He formed a coalition with three IDF Chiefs of Staff and Yair Lapid, and truly the air was full of hope."
Golan further remarked:
"I think he erred twice during Netanyahu's greatest crises: the coronavirus government and the government after October 7th. He to a very large extent saved Netanyahu. I think this is an unforgivable mistake. You erred, you made a mistake, go home. Benny Gantz's honor remains intact. He is a man of many deeds and accomplishments, and I am not here to diminish his achievements and his contribution to the State of Israel."
Later in the interview, Yair Golan admitted that he had never expressed his disappointment to Gantz directly: "I didn't say it to him like that in a personal conversation. A certain disconnect was created in our relationship, and I understand that. We don't have friendly conversations. We just say hello to each other."
