Naftali Bennett Criticizes Gaza Policy During Envelope Tour
Naftali Bennett toured the Gaza envelope, criticizing government policy and stating that Hamas still controls the Strip, demanding complete disarmament before any reconstruction.
Former Prime Minister and leader of the "Be-yachad" electoral list, Naftali Bennett, toured the Gaza envelope on Thursday alongside members of the "Tzav 9" movement and representatives of the Tkuma region, sharply criticizing the government's policy in the Strip. During the tour, Bennett claimed that Hamas continues to control the territory and that no progress can be made toward rehabilitation before the organization is completely disarmed.
Criticism of Government Policy
"We are hundreds of meters from Hamas territory, in buildings owned by Hamas, controlled by Hamas, and where they walk around freely," Bennett stated. According to him, disarmament should have preceded any civilian reconstruction efforts, but in reality, Hamas remains the sovereign power on the ground. Bennett also directed criticism at the government led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, alleging that a police force is currently being established in the Strip with the consent of cabinet members.
The only way to move forward in the State of Israel is the elimination of Hamas. There is no way around this, and only after that can we talk about rebuilding the Strip.
Objections to Regional Agreements
Bennett further addressed clauses concerning regional developments and future political horizons, warning against premature agreements that do not guarantee the complete dismantling of terrorist infrastructure. The tour, led by "Tzav 9" chairman Shlomo Sharid, included observations from the Kisufim outpost and discussions near Kerem Shalom regarding humanitarian aid trucks and the security situation.
