"Beşiktaş is the joke of Turkey": The difference between Vlahović and Salah

Dušan Vlahović was presented on Friday as the new Beşiktaş player, but the club's attempt to host a grandiose ceremony similar to Mohamed Salah's at Trabzonspor failed to generate the expected interest. Social media users began mocking the event by comparing footage from the two players' presentations.

Dušan Vlahović was presented on Friday as the new Beşiktaş player, but despite the Turkish club's desire to provide a grandiose ceremony similar to that of Mohamed Salah, who preferred Trabzonspor, the Serbian striker did not generate a similar level of interest. A limited number of fans attended the event, and on social media, users began to mock the club by comparing clips from Salah's ceremony to that of Vlahović.

While Beşiktaş became the "joke of Turkey," one fan explained:

"Mohamed Salah is an iconic star on a global level; comparing him to any other player in terms of his global popularity and outstanding achievements is a great injustice. The Turkish people's love for Mohamed Salah has a very special character. Fans of all football clubs in Turkey love him with pure affection and from the heart. He is like them in everything; they feel him as a brother, a friend, or part of their family. He is their pride in the international football world and has become a role model for all young and developing players in Turkey."

"BEŞİKTAŞ DALGA KONUSU OLDU"

The club claimed that there were still about 20,000 fans in the stadium. The 26-year-old Vlahović, who arrived after eight years in Italy (four at Fiorentina and four at Juventus), signed a three-year contract with the black-and-whites and addressed the crowd in Turkish: "Are you ready? We are starting."
