Newborn Baby Rescued from Trash Bag in Dhaka After Emergency Call

A newborn baby girl, just four to five days old, was rescued in Dhaka, Bangladesh, after being found abandoned inside a black plastic trash bag in a vacant lot. Police acted swiftly following an emergency call from an alert passerby who heard crying coming from the bag. The infant was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition, while authorities launched an intensive investigation to locate her parents.
Dramatic Emergency Rescue
According to Anwar Sattar, public relations officer for the national emergency service 999, the dramatic call came in the evening from a distressed resident who reported hearing heartbreaking cries emanating from a sealed black polyethylene bag left in a vacant lot on Road 8 in the Mirpur area's Shah Ali neighborhood.
"We received an urgent report from a citizen who heard crying from a garbage bag, and our patrol units arrived at the scene within minutes to secure the child," emergency officials stated.
Medical Treatment and Investigation
Officers quickly rushed the infant to the Shishu Children's Hospital for emergency first aid. Due to her critical medical condition, she was later transferred to the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for specialized care and continuous monitoring.
Local police station commander Jahangir Alam confirmed that the baby is currently surviving and receiving close medical supervision, noting that her identity and the identity of those who abandoned her remain unknown at this time. Police investigators are reviewing nearby security footage and birth records to identify the responsible parties.
